Schedule of Events for Journey Stories, a Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit

Dates On Display: September 29 - November 15
Display Hours: Friday thru Monday, 12 to 4 p.m. Monday & Tuesday evenings, 5 to 8 p.m.
 
Sunday, Sept. 29 • 2 p.m. Rededication of 100 year-old bandstand by veterans’ organizations, panoramic photograph taken of everyone in the triangle and a “journey” to the Old Mill Museum led by the Dundee High School Jazz Band.
Monday, Sept 30 • 7 p.m. Official Opening Ceremony with wine and hors d’oeuvres, ribbon cutting, scholarship award announcement. Our state scholar will discuss migration in Southeast Michigan.
Tuesday, Oct. 1 • 5 – 8 p.m. Old Fashioned Bingo Parlor, charge to play bingo games, cash prizes, snacks available—in the Old Mill
Saturday, Oct. 5 • 12 – 4 p.m. Model Ts in Wolverine Park—a tribute to Henry Ford—by the Huron Valley Cranks
Saturday, Oct. 5 • 2 – 3 p.m. Steven Stanford – PowerPoint on how Henry Ford’s Model T changed transportation and a look at one village industry – Old Mill
Sunday, October 6 • 2 p.m. Walking Tour of historic buildings in the triangle focusing on businesses of 100 years ago. Led by Randi Kominek, Historical Preservation Society of Dundee, start at Old Mill.
Monday, Oct. 7 • 6 – 8p.m. Genealogical workshop led by Florence Wilson, Monroe County Genealogical Society (MCGS) in the Old Mill
Tuesday, Oct. 8 • 2 & 7 p.m. “The New World: Nightmare in Jamestown,” lm shown in Dundee Library basement
Saturday, Oct. 12 • est. 2 p.m. Automobile cruise from Milan arrives at the Old Mill -- the Milan Backstreet CruiZers
Sunday, Oct. 13 • 12:30 p.m. German lunch (free will donation) followed at 2 p.m. by a presentation on Dundee’s German heritage with Loretta Dunham & Judy Carr, MCGS
Monday, Oct. 14 • 6 – 8 p.m. Genealogical workshop led by Florence Wilson, MCGS, in the Old Mill
Tuesday, Oct. 15 • 2 & 7 p.m. “Shane” lm shown in Dundee Library basement
Friday, Oct. 18 • 8 p.m. Micro brewery beer tasting. Go Ugly Early DJ, leads a musical journey--50s to 90s, in the Old Mill—admission charge
Sunday, Oct. 20 • 2 p.m. Veterans Tell Their Journey Stories in the Old Mill
Monday, Oct. 21 • 6 – 8 p.m. Genealogical workshop led by Florence Wilson, MCGS, in the Old Mill
Tuesday, Oct. 22 • 2 & 7 p.m. “American Experience: Transcontinental Railroad,” lm shown in Dundee Library
Saturday, Oct. 26 • 6 - 11 p.m. The Final Journey, a paranormal tour for families in the Old Mill Museum led by Tim Rehahn, Spirit World Paranormal Investigation—admission charge
Sunday, Oct. 27 • 12:30 p.m. Ever hear of Tazewell, Tennessee? Southern luncheon (free will donation). At 2 p.m. Edmund LaClair, on behalf of the Monroe Labor History Museum and Monroe Community College, will lead a discussion on Dundee’s southern roots, in the Old Mill
Tuesday, Oct. 29 • 2 & 7 p.m. “The Grapes of Wrath,” lm shown in Dundee Branch Library basement
Saturday, Nov. 2 • 2 p.m. The Railroad Comes to Town—1870s, Ann Arbor Railroad Society president talks about the railroads that came to Dundee bringing salesmen, settlers, and students, in Old Mill
Sunday, Nov. 3 • 2 – 3 p.m. Our Native American Journeys presented by Meg Heinlen in the Old Mill, HPSD
Sunday, Nov. 10 • 2 p.m. Millie’s Button Box Band will play (and sometimes sing) journey songs, in the Old Mill
Sunday, Nov. 10 • 4 p.m. Drawing for kayak & package, donated by Cabela’s, mountain bike and camping gear donated by Historical Preservation Society of Dundee---Tickets available in Old Mill
Tuesday, Nov. 12 • 5 - 8 p.m. Old Fashioned Bingo Parlor, charge to play bingo games, cash prizes, snacks available—in the Old Mill
